A Scholarship Awarding Ceremony for students with outstanding academic results during Spring’12 Semester was held at Iqra University North Campus on August 30, 2012. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser, Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi graced the occasion. In all, 32 students of BBA, MBA, BS-MS & BS-CS were awarded Scholarships.
The ceremony started with a welcoming speech by Prof. Dr. Wasim Qazi, Vice President, Iqra University. Dr. Qazi’s unconventional speech pleasantly surprised the audience when he spoke about his personal experiences as a student. He quoted his student life occurrences in a candid yet inspiring style and found the audience in a state of awe. A hard-core self-made man, Dr. Qazi opened hitherto hidden struggles of his life and how he achieved the epitome of professional success. He sensitized students about value of education and the modern day academic facilities they all are blessed with. His ten minutes narration proved a remarkable inspiration not only for students, but the audience at large.
In his key-note address, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser, Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi spoke in his own unique style and quoted many of his experiences with the students. He spoke at length about the importance of education and appreciated the efforts of Iqra University in developing and harnessing the youth. He said universities are research engines for societies and sadly pointed out that unfortunately Pakistan is ranked amongst the few lowest research output countries. He inspired students that the hard work they have shown will have to be continued for their remaining academic life and only than they can play any visible role in the development of country. Later he presented all the students with scholarships certificates and in the end he was presented with an IU memorabilia.
Iqra University North Campus expresses its deepest gratitude to Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser for taking out time from his busy schedule and speaking to its students. We hope and we expect that we all continue to play our due roles; in our own spheres; in the development of this country.
